FOUNDATIONAL CERTIFICATE PROGRAM LEVEL I - OVERVIEW
The Contemplative Creative Therapy (CCT) foundational certificate program provides a comprehensive survey of Buddhist-based embodied mind training from Buddhist psychology, meditation, and contemplative creative practices from its origins in India to the inception of CCT applied in the context of Western mental health.
Embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, deep healing, and the integration of ancient wisdom with modern science through the Contemplative Creative Therapy Certificate Program Level I. This program offers a comprehensive exploration of contemporary contemplative creative therapy and the historical lineages of Indo-Tibetan and Zen Buddhist psychology and meditation practices, contemplative science, and creative arts therapy that incorporate contemplation as a form of adjunctive methodology for mental health treatment. This program is designed for individuals seeking to deepen their understanding of contemplative creative's therapeutic potential and its integration with holistic creative multimodalities. Following a gradual curriculum developed at the Centre for Contemplative Creative Science (CCCS), the foundational program integrates essential aspects of Buddhist and Western psychologies into a unified CCT model and approach to understanding, training, and transforming the embodied mind. The program combines a study of key simplified Buddhist embodied mind training with online courses to unpack teachings and address practical applications. Masters of embodied healing practices and somatic psychotherapy will lead participants through a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary program that will not only help promote your somatic skill development but also promote your own personal transformation.
As mindfulness becomes a household word and its practice is increasingly taken up in pop psychology, medicine and psychotherapy, there is a growing interest among professionals and the public at large in the traditional systems of science, psychology, and healing, which are its living source. This course puts the science and practice of mindfulness in the context of Buddhist psychology and explains how it is most effectively understood and used, not just to “be in the moment” but to help our minds and brains embody the wisdom, awareness, and kindness that can make life freer, healthier, and happier, one moment, one day at a time.
Beyond the psychology of mindful insight and change, the Buddhist tradition developed less-known compassion training techniques to help people living busy lives in the world thrive together with others in open-mindedness, warm-heartedness, and altruistic engagement. Eventually, these techniques were enhanced by embodied contemplative arts like role-modeling imagery, heroic narrative, disarming posture and breathing to expose and transform the normally unconscious depths of the human mind-brain, allowing people to embody the creative leadership powers of heroic vision and flow.
